Keto/Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Keto/Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

When I was a kid growing up, one of my favorite things to do was bake chocolate chip cookies with my mom. It wasn't because I was an avid baker, or because i was a huge fan of cookies. It was because baking chocolate chip cookies means it was one of those rare times where I'd get to have a few bites of my favorite dessert ever: chocolate chip cookie dough.

If you've had a good spoon full of chocolate chip cookie dough, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Doughy, sweet (but not too sweet) with big chocolate chunks... When I was young, i didn't really get why my mom would make such a fuss when I ate it. Why would she want to deprive me of one of the best tasting foods on earth?

Now that I am older, and conscious about my health and what I put into my body, I totally get it. Lets start off with the fact that chocolate chip cookie dough is filled with sugar, wheat flour, and has virtually zero nutritional value. If you are paleo, keto, or just somewhat conscientious about eating healthy, then traditional cookie dough has no good place in your diet. Not to mention, theres also that whole raw egg/salmonella thing...

However, I've been eating paleo long enough to know that for almost any dessert- you can make a healthier paleo alternative. With that in mind, we got to the kitchen and started working on our paleo and keto friendly chocolate chip cookie dough recipe. The number one goal: for it to taste like homemade chocolate chip cookie dough, but only using ingredients that will help get you closer to your health and fitness goals.

The recipe only has a handful of whole food based ingredients, and is completely paleo and keto friendly. It is also full of protein, making it a great pre or post workout snack! Best part- it tastes exactly like that oh so delicious but also oh so unhealthy chocolate chip cookie dough that we used to eat when we were kids.
